Dealing with the Stress Factors of Stress Headaches

When stress builds up for any reason, one result can be a stress or tension headache, a very common complaint. For people who only get stress headaches infrequently, they aren’t anything anything to worry about.
When they start to happen all of the time, however, it can be difficult to work through them. Headaches, of course, are stressful in themselves, so your tension headaches end up making you feel more stressed out than ever. The stress can just pile up this way. When you become aware of the first twinge of pain, begin to calm your body immediately. Start at your toes and work your way up, muscle by muscle. Using this technique will relax you physically, in turn assisting in getting rid of the stress you may be feeling emotionally. Physical tension or injury can cause a stress headache when you least expect it. Sometimes it takes something as simple as relaxing your body to calm your physical stress to avoid these tension headaches.
Make sure you drink enough water. Dehydration is actually the cause of many health issues, including stress headaches.
One of the first signs of dehydration is feeling pain. You may be focusing on your stress, headache or other body aches, but your real problem is quite simple. As soon as you start to feel the first twinges of a headache, pour yourself a nice, tall and cold glass of water and drink it down very slowly. Sipping on your glass of water or bottle can have a calming effect on you. You should be able to get rid of your headache as your body absorbs the water it needed. If this doesn’t help your headache, you have to search for other stress factors that may have caused it.
Some time away from others can help you reduce stress. People can definitely contribute to feelings of stress, especially if you’re constantly around them. Time spend alone can help you de-stress and may help you get rid of tension headaches that were caused or aggravated by other people.
Being alone gives you a chance to relax and unwind without having to worry about what other people might be thinking about you. Taking as little as ten minutes to yourself every day can do quite a lot for your mind and spirit. This may be all you need to prevent or get rid of stress headaches, so make sure you make this time for yourself.
